Angry Asphyre Sphinx has been released! - 12-Feb-2009, 22:20

Asphyre Sphinx is the latest framework for developing 2D/3D video games and interactive business applications. It aids the developer with resource management, displaying 2D and 3D graphics in real-time, capture keyboard, mouse and joystick input.

This release supersedes all previous Asphyre releases and is under continuous development. It requires BDS 2006, Turbo Delphi, BDS 2007 or Lazarus (FreePascal).

The applications powered by Asphyre Sphinx can use either DirectX 7, DirectX 9 or OpenGL providers for displaying real-time graphics. The developer can decide whether to use one of the mentioned providers or let the user choose the provider at run-time. This feature is particularly useful for casual game developers where the game is required to run on the majority of consumer hardware. No external files and DLLs are required for Asphyre Sphinx applications to run.

Visit this page for more information about Asphyre Sphinx.

Alternatively, here are direct download links for the complete package (more options are available at the link above):

Asphyre Sphinx v1.0.0 Package (7z) (7.72 MiB)
Asphyre Sphinx v1.0.0 Package (RAR) (9.03 MiB)

Thanks a lot for your great work!

By the way i have try to run Asphyre Sphinx on BDS 2009 and i have a lot of conversion issues. Did you plan to release another version compatible with BDS 2009 in the future?

Anyway its not a big issue 'cause i still use BDS 2006 too, and its working great with this version.

Thanks again for your good work!

And without it, Sprite Engine will not work, as well as Particle Engine. Can we use AsphyreKeyboard.pas from the 5.0 version ?

There is "WinKeyb.pas" which does exactly the same thing.

Check the Granny Knot example, which draws billboards. Specifically, look for the code that calls to billboard drawing. You can replace it by a single call with some custom image, which should do the trick.
